Puna – Puna Patrol Officer Lauren Antolin was recognized for her quick thinking and compassionate actions that saved a woman’s life during a welfare check in Mountain View. She was honored as the Aloha Exchange Club of East Hawaiʻi’s Officer of the Month for May 2025.

In May, a woman in Michigan called police after being unable to reach her elderly sister in Hawaiʻi for nearly a day. The sister had reported a fall the day before, and the woman was concerned. When Officer Antolin arrived at the residence, she found the house unusually quiet and the lights off. Relying on her training and experience, she entered the home after discovering an open door.

Inside, Officer Antolin found the 73-year-old woman collapsed and unresponsive in critical condition. Her swift and decisive actions were credited with likely saving the woman’s life. A nine-year veteran of the department, Officer Antolin is known for her professionalism and commitment to public safety and community care.
