HONOLULU – Hawai’i boat owners can now breathe a sigh of relief as the Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation (DOBOR) has launched its highly anticipated online vessel registration renewal portal. This new online service provides a more efficient and convenient way for boaters to complete their annual registration renewal from the comfort of their homes.
“We would like to thank everyone for their patience while we worked through development and implementation of this system,” said Meghan Statts, DOBOR Administrator. “In today’s world, it only makes sense that boaters can conveniently renew online.”
The new portal streamlines the renewal process, saving boaters time and effort. No longer will they be solely reliant on time-consuming mail-in applications or in-person visits.
While the online renewal portal is now active, DOBOR assures boaters that traditional methods are still available. In-person renewals can still be completed at the Vessel Registration and Titling Office located at 4 Sand Island Access Road on Oʻahu, or at the nearest DOBOR Neighbor Island District Office. Mail-in renewals will also continue to be processed in the order they are received.
It is important to note that while renewals can now be done online, transactions for new vessel purchases and transfers still require an in-person visit to the Vessel Registration and Titling Office.
With the launch of this new online portal, DOBOR hopes to enhance the boating experience for all residents and visitors of Hawai’i. The online renewal system promises to be a significant step towards modernizing and improving accessibility to essential boating services throughout the state.
