#OurKuleana floods Social Media pages today

A new Trend has taken the Social media by storm. At 9:30 this morning, both Social media influencers and regular people alike started sharing black and white selfies of themselves wearing mask with the hashtag #OurKuleana in hopes to spread awareness to prevent further spread of COVID-19 by wearing mask.

With the reality that COVID-19 will not be going away any time soon, the recent spikes in Positive cases and in hopes to slow the spread of COVID-19. There is an need for the Community involvement to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 in the general public, at work and sometimes even at home. With the most basic involvement to prevent the further spread is to wear a mask.

         With Labor day upon us. #OurKuleana hopes spread awareness and encourages everyone to post a black and white selfie of themselves wearing their facemask. Want to be involved. its just as simple as a Social Media post on your page.  

Here’s how to do it (example below).

  • Take a black and white selfie wearing your favorite mask framing only your face or headshot so that your eyes and mask are the main things visible (see examples provided).
  • Look directly into the camera lens itself.  If using the front camera of a phone, avoid looking at the screen of your phone, look into the camera lens itself.
  • Caption for the post can include:
    • Hashtag #OurKuleana
    • A personal message from the poster encouraging safety measures or who you are doing it for.

We all must play our part. Will you be a preventer or spreader?
