PĀHOA, HI – Guy M. Nobriga, 30, of Pāhoa, was arrested and charged with multiple firearms and drug offenses following a report of gunshots in the Hawaiian Beaches subdivision on Thursday, February 6, 2025.
Puna patrol officers responded to the call at approximately 11:35 p.m., after receiving reports of gunshots emanating from a red Honda sedan near the intersection of Kahakai Boulevard and Ahi Street. Officers located a vehicle matching the description leaving the area and initiated a traffic stop for an unrelated violation. Nobriga, the driver, was arrested on an outstanding bench warrant. Officers then spotted a handgun in plain view under the driver’s seat.
Both Nobriga and his passenger, Elizabeth F. Lee, 32, also of Pāhoa, were taken into custody, and the vehicle was seized as evidence. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a loaded Glock semi-automatic pistol, which had been previously reported stolen. The pistol’s magazine exceeded the legal capacity.
Detectives also discovered 1.77 grams of methamphetamine, 15.52 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a digital scale.
On Saturday, February 8, the Hawai’i County Prosecutors Office charged Nobriga with:
- Place to keep pistol or revolver
- Ownership possession prohibited
- Ownership possession prohibited-ammunition
- Possession prohibited-illegal magazine
- Carrying or possessing a loaded firearm on public highway
- Second-degree reckless endangering
- Carrying or use of firearm in the commission of a separate felony
- First-degree theft (of Firearm)
- Two counts of third-degree promoting a dangerous drug
- Second-degree promoting a dangerous drug
- Two counts of third-degree promoting a detrimental drug
- Driving without a valid driver’s license
Nobriga’s bail was set at $477,000. Nobriga was scheduled to make his initial court appearance on Monday afternoon, February 10, in Hilo District Court.
Elizabeth Lee was released pending further investigation.
