PĀPAʻALOA, Hawaiʻi – The Pāpaʻaloa community is preparing to celebrate a significant new development at Pāpaʻaloa Park with an upcoming groundbreaking and blessing ceremony. The County of Hawai’i Department of Parks & Recreation will host the event this Thursday, May 29, marking the official start of construction on a new covered play court.
The new facility is planned to replace the park’s gymnasium, which was demolished in 2022. This covered play court is anticipated to become a vital hub for recreational activities and community gatherings in the area.
County of Hawai’i elected officials, alongside administration and staff from the Department of Parks & Recreation, are expected to join community members for the 10:30 a.m. ceremony. The groundbreaking signifies a renewed investment in Pāpaʻaloa Park, promising enhanced recreational opportunities for residents of all ages.
The project at Pāpaʻaloa Park, located at 35-1994 Government Main Road, represents the County’s commitment to providing modern and accessible facilities for the public. Further details on the project’s timeline and anticipated completion are expected to be shared as construction commences.
