Police Ask Public’s Assistance in Locating Escapee Dyllan Paulo-Leslie; Police Activity Near Ka‘iulani Street, Hilo

Hawaiʻi Island police are requesting the public’s assistance in locating 27-year-old Dyllan Paulo-Leslie, of Kailua-Kona, who escaped from the Hawai‘i Community Correctional Center on Friday evening, April 21, 2023. Paulo-Leslie was in custody for attempted murder and terroristic threatening cases for a robbery that occurred in November 2022. 

Paulo-Leslie was seen at the correctional center on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. and was able to escape the facility by climbing an exterior fence. He was last seen wearing gray sweats and has multiple tattoos on his neck.

At 8:15 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2023, Paulo-Leslie was sighted near Kaiulani Street near the Reed’s Island area of Hilo. Police warn the public there is heavy police activity in the area and to exercise caution and avoid the area if possible.

Paulo-Leslie is described as having a medium complexion, 5 feet 11 inches tall, 165 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Police ask anyone with information on this incident to call 911 or the police department’s non-emergency number at (808) 935-3311.
