Police Ask Public’s Assistance in Locating Stolen Ring

Hawai‘i Island police are requesting the public’s assistance in locating a piece of men‘s jewelry stolen from a department store in Hilo over the weekend.

At 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2022, store employees reported that a woman grabbed a gold-colored ring studded with rows of clear and dark-colored stones and ran out of the store, heading ​westbound on Puainako Street.

The ring is valued at approximately $3,400.

The female suspect is described as local with a stocky build, 5 feet tall, with short hair.  She was wearing a camouflage-patterned fanny pack at the time of the incident.

Police are asking that anyone with information regarding the identity of this woman or location of the ring to call the police department’s non-emergency number at (808) 935-3311 or contact Officer Joshua Rodby-Tomas of Hilo patrol via e-mail at joshua.rodby-tomas@hawaiicounty.gov.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call the island wide Crime Stoppers number at 808-961-8300 and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1000. Crime Stoppers is a volunteer program run by ordinary citizens who want to keep their community safe.
