Police Identify Victim in Last Weekend’s Violent Murder of Elderly Woman in Hilo

HILO, HAWAII – April 1, 2025 – The Hawai’i Island Police Department has identified the victim of a brutal stabbing that occurred in Hilo early Saturday morning, March 29th, as 81-year-old Lola Linda Loebl, a resident of Hilo.

On Sunday, March 30th, 30-year-old Keoni Peter Tosie Brown was arrested and charged in connection with the crime. Brown faces charges of second-degree murder and first-degree terroristic threatening in the first degree. His bail has been set at $2,020,000.

Brown remains in police custody and is scheduled to appear in South Hilo District Court today, Monday, March 31st, for his initial court appearance.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday, April 4th, to determine the precise cause of death for Ms. Loebl. The police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward with information.
