Police Search for Missing Pāhoa Man Eric Carl-Smith (LOCATED)

Hawai‘i Island police report that Eric Carl-Smith of Pahoa, who was previously reported as missing, was located in good health in Hilo on the morning of August 5, 2021. The police department thanks to


the public for their assistance in the matter.

Hawai‘i Island police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating 53-year-old Eric Carl-Smith, of Pāhoa. Carl-Smith was last seen on Sunday, August 1, 2021, walking in the area of Apa‘a Road and Pahoa Village Road in Pāhoa wearing a black in color short-sleeved t-shirt, blue jeans, and slippers. He is known to frequent the Puna and Honoka‘a areas.

He is described as being Caucasian with a tan complexion, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 200-225 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.

Police ask anyone with information on Carl-Smith’s whereabouts to call the police department’s non-emergency line at (808) 935-3311 attention Officer Chezvis Carveiro.
