Police Search for Person of Interest in Hilo Theft Investigation

Hawai‘i Island police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a person of interest in a theft investigation.

Police are seeking to identify the man who is wanted for questioning in the theft of a wallet, which was reported stolen on Friday, June 24, 2022, while the victim was at a business in the 300 block of E. Makaala Street. The theft resulted in seven fraudulent credit card transactions also on Friday, June 24, at various businesses in Hilo.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of this man is asked to call the police department’s non-emergency number at (808) 935-3311 or contact Officer Sean Phelan of Hilo Patrol via e-mail at sean.phelan@hawaiicounty.gov.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call the islandwide Crime Stoppers number at (808) 961-8300 and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
