Police Seek Ocean View Man Considered Armed and Dangerous

KA’U, HI – Hawai’i Island police are asking for the public’s help in locating Robert “Tamatoa” Teinauri-Carman, 40, of Ocean View, who is wanted on two outstanding arrest warrants and for questioning in connection to a 2022 burglary. Police are urging caution, as Teinauri-Carman is considered armed and dangerous.

The Hawai’i Police Department (HPD) Report No. 25-025592 details that Teinauri-Carman is wanted on warrants for an indictment and for revocation of release of bail. He is also a person of interest in a burglary that occurred in the Hawai’i Ocean View Estates subdivision in the Ka‘ū district in 2022.

Teinauri-Carman was last seen on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at approximately 1:00 p.m. near the 49-mile marker on Highway 11 in Ka‘ū. He fled from officers on foot at that time. Despite an extensive ground search by police, they were unable to locate him. Authorities are unsure if he received assistance in leaving the area via vehicle. While his current whereabouts remain unknown, Teinauri-Carman is known to frequent the Hawaiian Ocean View Estates subdivision.

Police strongly advise the public not to approach Teinauri-Carman. Instead, anyone who sees him is urged to immediately contact the police department at (808) 935-3311.

Teinauri-Carman is described as being 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 175 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He has numerous tattoos on the front and back of his body.

The HPD is also reminding the public that anyone found harboring or concealing a wanted person could face criminal charges.
