Police Seek Public’s Assistance in Locating a Stolen Mulcher in Hāmākua

Hawai‘i police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a red Fecon brand mulcher attachment that was stolen from an excavator owned by the State Department of Transportation Highways Division in Hāmākua.

The theft occurred on the shoulder of Highway 19 near the 45 mile marker sometime between 4 p.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2022, and Monday, August 29, at 8:00 a.m. The mulcher’s estimated value is $45,000.

Police ask anyone with information regarding suspicious activity in the area or the location of the mulcher to call the police department’s non-emergency line at (808) 935-3311 or contact Officer Paul Isotani at paul.isotani@hawaiicounty.gov. ​
