Police Seek Public’s Help Identifying Suspects in Kona Weapons Incident

Kailua-Kona, Hawaiʻi – Hawaiʻi Island police are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying suspects involved in a weapons incident that occurred late Monday evening, July 28, 2025, in the area of the Kailua Pier on Aliʻi Drive in Kailua-Kona.

At approximately 11:15 p.m. last Monday, two male victims, a 30-year-old from Kona and a 25-year-old from Waimea, reported that they were confronted by two younger males accompanied by a young female near the Kailua Pier. During the confrontation, one of the male suspects allegedly brandished an unidentified type of firearm and discharged three rounds in the direction of the victims. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and there were no other people in the immediate vicinity where the shots were fired.

The suspects and the female then fled the area, traveling east (mauka) on Palani Road in a newer model white SUV, possibly a Honda CR-V or a similar vehicle.

Suspect Descriptions:

  • Male Suspects: Both are described as being in their late teens to early 20s, approximately 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, with thin builds and light complexions.
  • Female Suspect: Described as being in her late teens to early 20s, between 5 feet 2 inches to 5 feet 3 inches tall, with a skinny build and light complexion.
