Police Seeking Theft Suspect

Hawai‘i Island police are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a woman involved in a theft that took place in Waimea last month.

On Tuesday, May 3, 2022, between 8:30 a.m. and 1:45 p.m., an unidentified female suspect was observed on video surveillance removing a handheld electronic tablet valued at $100 from a shopping cart located in the 65-0000 block of Mamalahoa Highway in Waimea.

The suspect is described as possibly being in her 30s to 40s with a fair complexion, 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 200 pounds, with red hair. The suspect was last observed wearing a black long sleeve shirt, black leggings, and a black backpack. 

Police ask for anyone who recognizes this woman to call Officer Andrew Love at (808) 887-3080, or email Andrew.Love@hawaiicounty.gov, or call the police department’s non-emergency line at 808-935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at (808) 961-8300.
