by Thunda
Prosecuting Attorney Kelden Waltjen announced that a Puna man, 45 year-old Tyson Prim was charged in relation to a December 5th incident involving the operation of a stolen Ford F-150 truck and possession of methamphetamine and heroin.
As the Complaint alleges, Prim was charged with Unauthorized Control of a Propelled Vehicle in the First Degree (unauthorized control of a Ford F-150 truck without the owner’s consent) and two counts of Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the Third Degree (possession of any amount of methamphetamine and heroin). Review of court records indicate that at the time of the alleged offenses, Prim was out on bail for unrelated pending felony matters.
Prim is scheduled to make his initial appearance today in Hilo District Court. He remains in custody in lieu of $30,000.00 bail.
The investigation was handled by Officers Sheldon Adviento and Dustin Chaves, South Hilo Patrol and Detective Clarence Davies, Area I Criminal Investigation Section, Hawai‘i Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Elyssa Correia-Keltner.
The charges are merely allegations, and the Defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
The Office of the Prosecuting Attorney remains dedicated to the pursuit of justice with integrity and commitment. Anyone having information to assist local law enforcement should call Crime Stoppers at (808) 961-8300.
