Puna Man Charged with Burglary, Criminal Property Damage, Theft, and Terroristic Threatening in Domestic Incident

A Puna man, 28 year-old Solomon Lord, was charged by Prosecutors via felony information in relation to an October 13, 2022 domestic incident which occurred at a Hawaiian Paradise Park residence.

Lord made his initial appearance in Hilo Circuit Court on Monday, December 5, 2022. He appeared out of custody after posting a $48,000.00 bail bond. The case was set for jury trial on March 13, 2023.

Prosecuting Attorney Kelden Waltjen announced that as the Information alleges, Lord was charged with Burglary in the First Degree (entered or remained unlawfully in another person’s dwelling with intent to commit theft, criminal property damage, and/or assault), Criminal Property Damage in the Second Degree (damaged another person’s Toyota 4Runner, without their consent, in an amount which exceeded $1,500), Criminal Property Damage in the Third Degree, Theft in the Second Degree (exerted unauthorized control over another person’s phone, the value of which exceeded $750, with intent to deprive the owner of the phone), and Terroristic Threatening in the Second Degree.

The most serious offense, Burglary in the First Degree, is a class B felony which is punishable by a ten years in prison or four years probation and up to eighteen months in jail.

The charges are merely allegations, and the Defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

The case was initiated and led by Officer Robert Kamau, Puna Patrol, and assisted by Officer Jason Miyashiro, Puna Patrol, and Detective Corinna McLellan, Area I Juvenile Aid Section, Hawai‘i Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Jefferson Malate.
