Puna Man Charged with Theft of Volkswagen Jetta

Attorney Kelden Waltjen announced that a Puna man, 26-year-old Sateki Nisa was charged in relation to the theft of a Volkswagen Jetta originally reported stolen on April 27, 2022, from a Hawaiian Beaches residence.

As the Complaint alleges, Nisa was charged with Theft in the Second Degree (theft of property valued greater than $750, a Volkswagen Jetta) and Unauthorized Control of a Propelled Vehicle in the First Degree (unauthorized control of a Volkswagen Jetta without the owner’s consent and/or changing the identity of the vehicle without the owner’s consent). A review of court records indicates that at the time of the alleged offenses, Nisa was on supervised release for another unrelated felony matter.

Nisa remains in custody in lieu of $20,000.00 bail pending his initial appearance on Monday in Hilo District Court.

The case was initiated by Officer Chyann Gabriel and the felony investigation was handled by Officers Alric Dalere, Michael Sailer, Sheldon Adviento, and Detective Keith Simeona, Jr., Area I Special Enforcement Unit, Hawai‘i Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Kevin Soong.

The charges are merely allegations, and the Defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
