Puna Man to Face Extradition to New Mexico for Parole Violations

Prosecuting Attorney Kelden Waltjen announced that a Puna man, 38-year-old Patrick James Richardson III, will face extradition proceedings for parole violations.

Richardson, who was on parole for a 2018 State of New Mexico conviction of the felony offense of Possession of a Deadly Weapon or Explosive by a Prisoner, was arrested on an outstanding State of New Mexico parole warrant by officers with the Area I Criminal Investigation Section on March 30, 2022.


On Friday, Richardson appeared in Hilo Circuit Court. His bail was set at $100,000.00 and he was ordered to appear for a commitment hearing on April 7, 2022. The extradition proceedings will be handled by Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Kimberly Angay.


The extradition investigation was conducted by Detective Blaine Morishita, Area I Criminal Investigation Section, Hawai‘i Police Department.
