The Hawai‘i County Department of Parks and Recreation announces that the Pana’ewa Rainforest Zoo & Gardens will begin ReZOOvenation Days in 2023. As a result, the zoo will be closed on the first Thursday of the month, beginning January 5, 2023.

ReZOOvenation Days will allow zoo staff time to undertake larger projects to enhance the zoo grounds, facilities, and animal areas. This time will also allow staff the opportunity to participate in professional development courses that will increase their skills.

Additionally, the zoo will extend its hours starting January 1, 2023. The new hours will be 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily and will be closed the first Thursday of the month, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.

For more information, contact the Panaʻewa Rainforest Zoo and Gardens at 808-959-7224.
