The County of Hawaiʻi Department of Environmental Management notifies drivers and businesses of the following work-related temporary traffic changes: one-lane traffic on Ali‘i Drive near The Fish Hopper restaurant; and shoulder parking closure at Ka‘ahumanu Place.

On Ka‘ahumanu Place, shoulder parking/loading will be partially closed in “Work Zone 1” to accommodate equipment for sewer line repairs. In addition to the parking/loading zone closure, the makai lane in the area shown below as “Work Zone 2” will intermittently be used for contraflow traffic. Contra-flow traffic should last approximately 15 minutes at a time. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic. Work is scheduled to begin on Thursday, April 21, from 8:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. and is anticipated to be completed by April 26 or sooner.

Motorists can expect delays when contra-flow is in place and should allow for extra travel time to get to their destinations. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact David Thomas at (808) 938-5622 or David.Thomas@HawaiiCounty.gov. The Department of Environmental Management asks for your patience and apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.
