Hawai‘i Island – The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation (HDOT) has announced lane closures on several state highways for the week of January 4 to January 10, 2025. These closures are necessary for ongoing maintenance and improvement projects. Motorists are advised to plan accordingly and expect delays. All work is weather permitting, and schedules may change without notice.
Māmalahoa Highway/Volcano Highway (Route 11):
- Kurtistown: Single lane closure at mile post 9.7 near Huina Road for crosswalk and pavement marking maintenance. Scheduled from Monday, Jan. 6 to Thursday, Jan. 9, 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
- Mountain View: Single lane closure between mile posts 17 and 19 for vegetation cutting. Scheduled from Monday, Jan. 6 to Friday, Jan. 10, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Keokea-Honaunau: Single lane closure between mile posts 97.3 and 104.7 near Haleili Road and Filipino Clubhouse Road for safety improvements. Scheduled from Monday, Jan. 6 to Friday, Jan. 10, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Hawai‘i Belt Road/Kawaihae Road/Queen Ka‘ahumanu Highway (Route 19):
- Laupāhoehoe: Single lane closure between mile posts 25.5 and 27 near Jardine Road for vegetation cutting. Scheduled from Monday, Jan. 6 to Friday, Jan. 10, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Kailua Kona: Single lane closure between mile posts 93 and 99 near Kaiminani Drive and Kawi Street for drainage cleaning. Scheduled from Monday, Jan. 6 to Friday, Jan. 10, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Māmalahoa Highway (Route 190):
- Waimea (Weekend Work): Single lane closure between mile posts 0 and 1 near Lindsey Road and Lalamilo Farm Road for paving and striping. Scheduled from Monday, Jan. 6 to Friday, Jan. 10, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Waimea: Single lane closure between mile posts 0.3 and 2 near Kaomoloa Road and Waimea-Kohala Airport for vegetation cutting. Scheduled from Monday, Jan. 6 to Friday, Jan. 10, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Waikoloa: Single lane closure between mile posts 12.2 and 16.4 for paving and striping. Scheduled from Monday, Jan. 6 to Friday, Jan. 10, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Waimea: Single lane closure between mile posts 16 and 19 for vegetation cutting. Scheduled from Monday, Jan. 6 to Friday, Jan. 10, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Puainako Street (Route 2000):
- Hilo: Single lane closure between Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street for paving and shoulder work as part of the Puainako Street Improvements. Scheduled from Monday, Jan. 6 to Friday, Jan. 10, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
