State Road and Highways Roadwork and Lane Closures for January 1 – 7, 2021

PLEASE NOTE:

Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.  All projects are weather permitting.

There will be no daytime roadwork scheduled on Friday, Dec. 31 in observance of New Year’s Day, unless permitted. Highway 130 special use lanes will not be operational.

— KANOELEHUA AVENUE (ROUTE 11) —

1) HILO

Right lane closure on Kanoelehua Avenue (Route 11) in the northbound direction near mile marker 0.6, Hualani Street and Airport Road, on Monday, Jan. 3 through Friday, Jan. 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for driveway installation and concrete work.

— KUAKINI HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) —

1) KEAUHOU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Kuakini Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 115 and 116, Walua Road and Puuloa Road, on Saturday, Jan. 1 through Monday, Jan. 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree trimming and mulching work.

 — MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) —

1) MOUNTAIN VIEW (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 17 and 18, Mauna Kea Drive and Volcano Road, on Saturday, Jan. 1 through Monday, Jan. 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree trimming and mulching work.

 

2) NAALEHU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 66 and 68, near 68 Mile Road, on Saturday, Jan. 1 through Monday, Jan. 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass cutting.

— HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) —

1) PAPAIKOU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction near mile marker 6.7, Kopilimai Road and Kapue Bridge, on Monday, Jan. 3 through Friday, Jan. 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for utility work. 

2) HAKALAU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction near mile marker 13.8, near Kolekole Beach Park, on Tuesday, Jan. 4 through Friday, Jan. 7, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., for bridge repair work. 

3) HAKALAU TO NINOLE (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 15 and 19, Old Mamalahoa Highway and Hanamalo Lane, on Saturday, Jan. 1 through Monday, Jan. 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass cutting. 

4) HONOMU (24/7 RESTRICTION)

Kolekole Bridge at mile marker 14.27 on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) is weight restricted to 12 tons (24,000 lbs.) until further notice. The speed limit in the area is reduced to 25 mph. See https://hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/weight-limit-for-kolekole-bridge-now-12-tons/ for details.

5) PAPAALOA (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 21 and 22, on Saturday, Jan. 1 through Friday, Jan. 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree trimming and shoulder work.

— KEAAU-PAHOA ROAD (ROUTE 130) —

1) PAHOA (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Keaau-Pahoa Road (Route 130) possible in either direction between mile markers 7 and 9, Aulii Street and Niaulani Street, on Saturday, Jan. 1 through Monday, Jan. 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for mowing and landscaping work.

— MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) —

1) KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 2.5 and 4, near Saddle Road, on Tuesday, Jan. 4 through Friday, Jan. 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for shoulder work.

2) KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 3.9 and 6.9, near Saddle Road, on Monday, Jan. 3 through Friday, Jan. 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for shoulder widening, rumble strip installation and other safety improvements.

— KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) —

1) KOHALA (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile markers 5 and 12, Kawaihae Road and Puuhue Road, on Saturday, Jan. 1 through Monday, Jan. 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for shoulder restoration and landscaping.
