State Road and Highways Roadwork and Lane Closures for March 19 – 25, 2021

FOR THE WEEK OF MARCH 19 – MARCH 25

PLEASE NOTE:

Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.  All projects are weather permitting.

There will be no daytime roadwork scheduled on Friday, March 25 in observance of Prince Kuhio Day, unless permitted. Highway 130 special use lanes will not be operational.

— KUAKINI HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) —

1) HONAUNAU

Single lane closure on Kuakini Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 104 and 106, Tobacco Road and Middle Keei Road, on Tuesday, March 22 through Friday, March 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for mulching and mowing.

2) KEAUHOU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Kuakini Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 118 and 119, Kuakini Highway and Hawaii Belt Road, on Saturday, March 19 through Monday, March 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for mulching, tree trimming and mowing.

 — MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) —

1) KEAAU TO KURTISTOWN

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 8 and 10, Volcano Road and 9 ½ mile Cp, on Tuesday, March 22 through Friday, March 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass cutting.

2) MOUNTAIN VIEW (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 20 and 21, Volcano Road and Omeka Road, on Saturday, March 19 through Monday, March 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for mulching, tree trimming and mowing work.

3) MOUNTAIN VIEW

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 21 and 22, Volcano Road and Omeka Road, on Tuesday, March 22 through Friday, March 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for mulching and mowing work.

4) HONAUNAU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 85 and 86, Old Mamalahoa Highway and Ohana Road, on Tuesday, March 22 through Friday, March 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass cutting.

5) HONAUNAU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 86 and 87, Old Mamalahoa Highway and Ohana Road, on Saturday, March 19 through Monday, March 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass cutting.

— HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) —

1) HILO

Right lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) in the northbound direction near mile marker 2.5, Shipman Street and Wailuku Drive, on Monday, March 21 through Friday, March 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for Wailuku Stream Bridge repair work.

2) HAKALAU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction near mile marker 13.8, near Kolekole Beach Park, on Saturday, March 19 through Friday, March 25, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., for bridge repair work.

3) HONOMU (24/7 RESTRICTION)

Kolekole Bridge at mile marker 14.27 on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) is weight restricted to 12 tons (24,000 lbs.) until further notice. The speed limit in the area is reduced to 25 mph. See https://hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/weight-limit-for-kolekole-bridge-now-12-tons/ for details.

4) HONOMU

Right lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) in the southbound direction near mile marker 15.4, Old Mamalahoa Highway, on Monday, March 21 through Friday, March 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for Hakalau Stream Bridge rehabilitation and testing.

5) NINOLE (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 19 and 20, Hanamalo Lane and Hawaii Belt Road, on Saturday, March 19 through Monday, March 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree trimming and shoulder work.

6) NINOLE

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 20 and 21, Poupou Stream and Hawaii Belt Road, on Tuesday, March 22 through Friday, March 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree trimming and shoulder work.

7) OOKALA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 28 and 29.4, Kaawalii Stream and Niu Village Road, on Tuesday, March 22 through Friday, March 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass cutting.

— BAY FRONT HIGHWAY (ROUTE 19) —

1) HILO

Single lane closure on Bay Front Highway (Route 19) possible in either direction near mile marker 2.6, Wailuku Drive and Pukihae Street, on Monday, March 21, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., for bridge maintenance work.

— PAHOA-KALAPANA ROAD (ROUTE 130) —

1) PAHOA

Single lane closure on Pahoa-Kalapana Road (Route 130) possible in either direction between mile markers 0.0 and 3, Hawaii Belt Road and Keaau-Pahoa Road, on Monday, March 21 through Friday, March 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for installation of new traffic signal indicators.

2) PAHOA

Single lane closure on Pahoa-Kalapana Road (Route 130) possible in either direction near mile marker 15.4, Alaili Road, on Monday, March 21 through Friday, March 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for pavement and guardrail improvements.

— MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) —

1) KAMUELA (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 3 and 4, near Saddle Road, on Saturday, March 19 through Friday, March 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for landscaping and shoulder work.

2) KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 3.9 and 6.9, Saddle Road and Cross Island Road, on Monday, March 21 through Friday, March 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for shoulder widening, installation of rumble strips and other safety improvements.

AKONI PULE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 270) —

1) KAMUELA TO HAWI (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Akoni Pule Highway (Route 270) in both directions between mile markers 1 and 15, Kawaihae Road and Kapaa Park Road, on Saturday, March 19 through Monday, March 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for landscaping and shoulder work.

2) HAWI

Single lane closure on Akoni Pule Highway (Route 270) in both directions between mile markers 10 and 19, Kaiholena Place and Ilina Road, on Tuesday, March 22 through Friday, March 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for landscaping and shoulder work.
