Kamuela, Hawaii – In the early hours of the morning at approximately 1:43 am, emergency responders rushed to 65-1271 Kawaihae Rd. in Kamuela, Hawaii, after reports of a raging fire consuming a storage shed. The blaze, located adjacent to a Habitat for Humanity site, drew immediate attention from the community and first responders.

Upon arrival, the Kamuela Fire Department’s CO9 unit was met with a harrowing scene. The storage shed, spanning approximately 600 square feet, was fully engulfed in flames. A bystander alerted authorities, expressing concerns that an occupant might have been inside at the time of the inferno.

Swift action was taken as CO9 firefighters launched into fire attack procedures while simultaneously conducting a primary search of the premises. Fortunately, the structure was found to be empty, easing fears of any potential casualties.

Despite the intensity of the blaze, the Kamuela Fire Department managed to bring the fire under control and extinguish it within a remarkable 30-minute timeframe. The quick and efficient response from emergency services minimized the extent of the damage.

Initial estimates suggest that the total loss incurred due to the fire amounts to approximately $36,000. However, the identity of the shed’s owner remains unknown at this time, and there were no reported occupants at the time of the incident.

Following the successful mitigation of the hazard, responsibility for the scene was transferred to the Hawaii Police Department for further investigation and evaluation. Authorities are working diligently to determine the cause of the fire, and residents are urged to provide any relevant information that may aid in the investigation.
