Fire Reported at The Temple Bar on Keawe Street

Today at 1:54 pm a call came into Hawaii Fire Department Central Fire station in Hilo for a reported possible fire at The Temple Bar at 64 Keawe Street.

Upon arrival of HFD at 1:58 pm, Fire rescue found occupants of restaurant and bar on the outside of 3 story business with the fire alarm sounding. An Employee directed fire personnel to service entrance where floor was smoking and charred. The floorboards were removed and fire extinguished. The basement below burn area was investigated with thermal imager to look for further fire spread. No further fire or smoke was noted. The fire was reportedly extinguished by 4:10.

It is estimated that around $200 worth of damage was caused by the fire. The exact cause of the start of the fire remains under investigation.
