Third Hawaiʻi Inmate Death Due to COVID-19 Complications Reported

The death of a male Halawa Correctional Facility inmate, between 50 to 60-years old, is being classified by the Hawaii Department of Health as a COVID-19-related death.

This is the third death of an inmate classified by medical authorities as COVID-19-related. No additional information is being provided to protect individual medical privacy.

Halawa currently has just three (3) active positive inmate cases, two (2) of which are in medical isolation at the facility and one (1) hospitalized.

There was one negative inmate result received today.
