As the Complaints allege, Rooshvelt was charged with Assault in the First Degree (causing serious bodily injury to another person) and Assault in the Second Degree (causing substantial bodily injury to another person and/or causing bodily to another person with a knife), Monta was charged with Assault in the Second Degree (causing bodily to another person with a knife), and Henry was charged with Assault in the First Degree (causing serious bodily injury to another person). A review of court records indicates that Rooshvelt was pending charges for another unrelated Assault in the First Degree offense which allegedly occurred in May of 2020.
All three men made their initial appearances today in Hilo District Court. Judge M. Kanani Laubach maintained Rooshvelt’s bail at $35,000.00 and Monta’s bail at $10,000.00. Henry’s bail was reduced to $5,000.00 over the Prosecutors’ objections. All three men were ordered to appear for their preliminary hearings on September 8th in Hilo District Court.
