Three More Inmates Test Positive at HCCC Bringing the Count to Five Active Cases

The Hawaii Community Correctional Center (HCCC) confirms three inmates have positive COVID-19 test results. Including the two positive cases reported yesterday, the total now stands at five inmate cases. Two of the three housing units are in quarantine.

The facility has enacted their pandemic protocol to suspend all inmate movement going out of the facility as a precaution. The facility health care staff and the Department of Health have initiated contact tracing and are coordinating voluntary testing for inmates and staff.

COVID-19 testing is continuously being conducted statewide at all facilities. The inmate test results received at other facilities are as follows:

Five of the 20 previously reported active positive recruits assigned to the Training and Staff Development (TSD) section have recovered and were cleared to complete their last four days of training. An additional 17 previously tested negative recruits were also cleared to return to class.The remaining three negative tested recruits are pending clearance to return. There are a total of 15 active cases remaining with two employees still in the hospital.
