Traffic Signal Maintenance Scheduled for Hilo, Puna, and Kona

by Thunda

The County of Hawaiʻi Department of Public Works has announced a maintenance schedule for traffic signals in Hilo, Puna, and along Queen Kaʻahumanu Highway in Kona, beginning April 2nd and continuing through April 11th.

The planned maintenance will involve briefly placing signals into flash mode at each location being serviced. This flash mode is expected to last for approximately five minutes per location.

Motorists in the affected areas should anticipate potential minor traffic delays during the maintenance period. The Department of Public Works urges drivers to exercise caution and treat any flashing traffic signal as an all-way stop. Drivers should proceed only when safe to do so, yielding to other vehicles and pedestrians as appropriate.

The Department of Public Works thanks residents and visitors for their patience and cooperation as they work to maintain the functionality and safety of the island’s traffic signals. The maintenance is crucial for ensuring the continued smooth flow of traffic and the safety of all road users.
