The County of Hawai‘i Department of Environmental Management has announced scheduled tree trimming along the driveway entrance to the Kea‘au Transfer Station. The work will take place daily from January 14 to January 16, between 8 a.m. and 4:45 p.m.

Temporary Lane Closures and Access Limitations

The tree trimming project will involve intermittent lane closures at the facility’s driveway entrance, potentially causing minor traffic delays. Access to the public water spigots at the site will also be limited during the maintenance period.

To manage traffic and ensure public safety, the following measures will be in place:

  • A traffic control contractor and two officers will oversee the site throughout the project.
  • Priority will be given to incoming vehicles to minimize backups onto Highway 130. Motorists exiting the facility should anticipate delays.
  • An electronic sign board near the transfer station will inform the public of the scheduled work and expected delays.

Enhancing Safety and Access

The Department of Environmental Management appreciates the community’s patience as this necessary maintenance is completed to improve safety and access at the Kea‘au Transfer Station.
