Today, Prosecuting Attorney Kelden Waltjen announced that two Hilo men, 44 year-old Alfred Silva, and 49 year-old Daniel Bohol, were charged with attempted drug distribution and possession offenses, after members of the Area I Vice Unit, Hawai‘i Police Department executed a residential narcotic search warrant on a residence located on Todd Avenue in Keaukaha. According to Officers, the search resulted in the recovery of over one hundred (100) grams of methamphetamine, twenty (20) grams of cocaine, eighty-five (85) grams of marijuana, over one hundred (100) unusued, small, Ziploc-type packets, and over $1,800.00 in U.S. currency.
As the Complaint alleges, Silva, who has eight prior felony drug convictions, was charged with the following:
- Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the First Degree (possess over an ounce of methamphetamine)
- Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the Second Degree (possess over an eighth of an ounce of cocaine)
- Attempted Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the First Degree (attempt to distribute over an eighth of an ounce of methamphetamine and/or cocaine)
- Promoting a Detrimental Drug in the Second Degree (possess over an ounce of marijuana)
- Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the Third Degree (possess any amount of methamphetamine)
- Prohibited Acts Related to Drug Paraphernalia
As the Complaint alleges, Bohol was charged with the following:
- Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the First Degree (possess over an ounce of methamphetamine)
- Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the Second Degree (possess over an eighth of an ounce of cocaine)
- Attempted Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the First Degree (attempt to distribute over an eighth of an ounce of methamphetamine and/or cocaine)
- Promoting a Detrimental Drug in the Second Degree (possess over an ounce of marijuana)
- Prohibited Acts Related to Drug Paraphernalia
- Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the Second Degree (possess over an eight of an ounce of methamphetamine)
- Promoting a Detrimental Drug in the Second Degree (possess over an ounce of marijuana)
- Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the Third Degree (methamphetamine)
- Promoting a Detrimental Drug in the Second Degree (possess over an ounce of marijuana)
Silva remains in custody in lieu of $136,000.00 bail. Bohol remains in custody in lieu of $163,000.00 bail. Both men are scheduled to make their initial appearances in Hilo District Court this afternoon.
The charges are merely allegations, and the Defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
