Two Positive Covid Test Halts Corrections Officers Training

Two (2) Department of Public Safety (PSD) employees currently assigned to the Training and Staff Development (TSD) section have confirmed positive COVID-19 test results. The Department of Health (DOH) is conducting contact tracing. Testing is being scheduled for TSD employees. As a precaution, all corrections training-related activities are suspended for 10 days. A corrections recruit class graduation planned for Friday is also being postponed until PSD is given the medical all-clear.

COVID-19 testing is continuously being conducted statewide at all facilities. There are currently no confirmed active COVID-19 cases in the inmate population. The inmate test results received are as follows:

  • O‘ahu Community Correctional Center – 10 negative inmate test results
  • Women’s Community Correctional Center – 2 negative inmate test results
  • Halawa Correctional Facility – 2 negative inmate test results
  • Hawaii Community Correctional Center – 1 negative inmate test result
