Kona, Hawaiʻi – Hawaiian Electric crews are continuing with scheduled utility pole replacement work on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) in Kona this week. Motorists should be aware of intermittent lane closures to accommodate this work.

The work that was originally scheduled for Thursday, July 17, 2025, in South Kona between mile markers 93.5 and 94, has been RESCHEDULED to Thursday, July 24, 2025. This rescheduled work will also take place from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and will affect the makai (ocean) lane intermittently.

The earlier scheduled work for Tuesday, July 15, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., affecting the mauka (mountain) lane between mile markers 4 and 5, has already occurred.

Hawaiian Electric advises motorists to plan for possible traffic delays and to drive with caution when approaching the work zones. Flagmen will be onsite to provide traffic control.
