Water Board to host Public Hearing Possible Increase Power Costs Charge

The County of Hawaiʻi is issuing a notice that the Water Board of the County of Hawai’i will be holding a public hearing on April 26, 2022, at 9:30 a.m., for the purpose of considering and adopting a new cost of Power Adjustment Clause.

TIME: 9:30 a.m.

LOCATION: Puna Conference Room, Hawai’i County Building 25 Aupuni Street, Suite 1501 Hilo, Hawai’i

RATE CHANGE: POWER COST CHARGE The current Power Cost Charge of $2.02 per thousand gallons is under consideration for a possible increase to reflect increased power costs from all power sources. The proposed Power Cost Charge will be at a rate of $2.34. The approved rate will be effective the first day of the month after the establishment of the rate by the Water Board.

Pursuant to Hawai’i Revised Statutes Chapter 54, Part III, as amended. Pursuant to Act 220, Session Laws of Hawai’i 2021, which amended the Sunshine Law to allow meetings to be remotely conducted online, effective January 1, 2022, Department of Water Supply, Water Board, meetings will be held online, and the location listed is open to the public to attend in person and provide testimony.

INTERACTIVE CONFERENCE TECHNOLOGY (ICT): Water Board Members and Department of Water Supply staff will participate in this meeting via the Zoom interactive video conference platform. If lost communication exceeds 30 minutes, the public hearing will be adjourned and rescheduled.

Written testimony should be submitted no later than 12 noon, Monday, April 25, 2022, to be acknowledged at the public hearing. All written testimony, regardless of the time of receipt, will be part of the permanent record.
