Water Notices Canceled: Normal Water Use May Resume in North Kohala

North Kohala, Hawaiʻi – The Department of Water Supply (DWS) has announced the immediate cancellation of the “Essential Needs Only” and “Water Restriction” notices for North Kohala customers. Normal water use may now resume.

The DWS reports that the Hāwī #2 well, which had been inoperable, was repaired and returned to service on the afternoon of August 12. The cancellation affects all customers from Hāwī to Halaʻula, including Puakéa Bay, Kaʻauhuhu Homesteads, ʻĀinakea Village Subdivision, and customers along Akoni Pule Highway, Mill Road, and Maʻulili Road.

While the notices have been canceled, the DWS reminds the community to continue using water wisely and to not waste it.

The department also extended its sincere apologies for the interruption in water service and thanked its customers and the community for their kōkua (cooperation) during this period.
