Water Restriction Issued for Hāmākua Residents

Hāmākua, Hawaiʻi – The Department of Water Supply (DWS) has issued a Water Restriction Notice for all customers in the areas from Āhualoa to Pōhākea, including Kahana Drive east of Kalehua Road, Kalehua Road, Paʻauilo Mauka Road between Kalōpā Mauka Road and Pōhākea Road, and all side and adjacent roads.

The restriction, which requires customers to reduce their water usage by at least 25 percent, is necessary due to a water main break in a remote area. Crews are working to repair the break, with an estimated completion time of six to eight hours.

To help residents, a potable water tanker has been stationed at the intersection of Kalōpā Mauka Road and Keāhua Road. Water is also available at the public spigot at the bottom of Pōhākea Road in Paʻauilo.

DWS is asking customers to conserve drinking water and use it wisely. For more information, customers can call (808) 961-8050 during business hours or email dws@hawaiidws.org. For after-hours emergencies, the number is (808) 961-8790.
