Hāmākua, Hawaiʻi – The Department of Water Supply (DWS) has issued a reminder that a mandatory 25% water restriction remains in effect for customers in the Hāmākua district, from Āhualoa to Pōhākea.

The affected areas include Kahana Drive east of Kalehua Road, Kalehua Road, Paʻauilo Mauka Road between Kalōpā Mauka Road and Pōhākea Road, and all adjacent side roads.

The restriction is necessary due to a suspected second water main break. DWS crews are working to repair the break and are hauling water to refill the water tanks.

For public use, a potable water tanker has been stationed at the intersection of Kalōpā Mauka Road and Keāhua Road, and a public spigot is available at the bottom of Pōhākea Road in Paʻauilo.

DWS urges customers to conserve water, use it wisely, and not waste it. For more information, customers can call (808) 961-8050 during business hours or email dws@hawaiidws.org. For after-hours emergencies, please call (808) 961-8790.
