Big Island, Hawaiʻi – The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for Hawaiʻi Island, effective through Monday evening. The advisory specifically impacts the Hamakua, North and South Kohala, North Kona, Kaʻū, and Puna Districts.

A Wind Advisory signifies that sustained winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour (MPH) are expected, with gusts potentially reaching up to 50 MPH.

Residents and visitors in the affected areas are strongly advised to take necessary precautions. Motorists should drive with caution, as strong winds can make driving difficult and increase the risk of encountering debris, downed trees, and downed utility lines on roadways.

The public is reminded to stay clear of any downed utility lines due to the extreme danger they pose. All hazards, including downed lines or trees, should be reported immediately to authorities.
