Hawai‘i Island police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a female who is being sought for questioning in a theft investigation in the Kailua-Kona area.

On Sunday, August 22, 2021, Kona patrol officers contacted a victim who reported leaving her purse unattended sometime between 1:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. at a retail store on Henry Street.  After checking with store security, a woman was observed to be in possession of the victim’s purse while leaving the retail store. She then went to another retail store on Makala Boulevard and used the victim’s credit cards to make unauthorized transactions.

The suspect is described as a local female with a dark complexion and dark hair. She was last seen wearing a black tank top with pink floral print, blue jeans, and brown slippers.

The suspect was also wearing brown sunglasses, a blue face mask, silver hoop earrings, a silver necklace, a silver and white bracelet on her left wrist, and carrying a dark-colored white floral print tote bag.

This suspect is also wanted for questioning in other unrelated incidents in the Kailua-Kona area.

Police ask that anyone who recognizes the female or who may have information about this incident to contact Officer Jade Thomas at (808) 326-4646 or the police department’s non-emergency line at (808) 935-3311.
