A 36-year-old man from Pāhoa, Sione Siupeli Siale, was arrested and charged with multiple offenses following a weapons incident in the Ainaloa Subdivision on Wednesday, December 11, 2024. Police responded to reports of gunshots and yelling coming from a residence on Pearl Drive shortly after 7:45 p.m.
According to police, the victims at the scene told officers that Siale had exited the home and fired several shots from a handgun, allegedly threatening to kill his ex-in-laws during the incident. Siale was arrested without resistance at the location.
Following the arrest, detectives with the Area I Juvenile Aid Section obtained a search warrant for the residence to gather evidence and document the scene. Investigators later determined that Siale is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.
On Friday, December 13, after consultation with Hawai‘i County prosecutors, Siale was charged with two counts of first-degree terroristic threatening, first-degree reckless endangering, and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. His bail was set at $110,000.
Siale remains in police custody and is scheduled for an initial court appearance on Monday afternoon, December 16, 2024, in Hilo District Court.
