The NWS advises that road closures may occur without notice, and emphasizes the critical safety message: Do not attempt to cross flowing water in a vehicle or on foot—“Turn around, don’t drown.” In addition, with the threat of lightning, the safest place to be is indoors.

The High Wind Watch warns that damaging winds could uproot trees and down power lines, leading to widespread power outages.
