Hawaiʻi Island – The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Coastal Flood Statement for Hawaiʻi Island, warning of minor flooding along shorelines and low-lying coastal areas through Saturday.

The NWS reports that the combination of peak afternoon high tides, elevated water levels, and a large south swell will contribute to the minor coastal flooding.

Residents and visitors in affected areas are advised to take the following precautions:

  • Move electronics, vehicles, and other valuables to higher ground.
  • Secure canoes and other watercraft stowed on beaches.

The statement will remain in effect through Saturday, with the NWS providing updates should conditions change.
