Emergency responders sprang into action in response to a call reporting a brush fire on Kiele Street within the Orchidland Subdivision. The Hawai’i Fire Department (HFD) swiftly dispatched units to the scene, with Company 18 (Co-18) leading the charge.
Upon arrival, firefighters were met with a harrowing sight as they found a single-story wooden structure fully engulfed in flames. The inferno, which quickly consumed the approximately 600 square foot building, posed a significant challenge to the responding crews.
With precision and determination, firefighters from Co-18 initiated extinguishing operations, supported by additional resources including Tanker 10 (T10) and Brush Truck 10 (BT10), which provided crucial water supply and manpower assistance. Despite the ferocity of the blaze, the collaborative efforts of the firefighting teams enabled them to swiftly bring the fire under control.
As the smoke cleared and the flames subsided, firefighters proceeded with thorough overhaul operations to ensure that any lingering hotspots were extinguished. Despite the intensity of the fire, no occupants were found within the structure, alleviating concerns of potential injuries or casualties.
With the immediate threat mitigated and the fire extinguished, HFD units returned to their quarters, their tireless efforts a testament to their dedication and professionalism in the face of adversity.
The fire’s origin, as well as details regarding the property owner, occupants, and estimated loss, remain unknown at this time, pending further investigation by authorities.
