Police Asking for Assistance in Locating Missing Puna Man Andrew Cawley (LOCATED)

Hawai‘i Island police have identified the male victim whose body was found buried in a shallow grave in the Aloha Estates subdivision of Puna, on January 5, 2021, as 34-year-old Andrew Cawley.

Due to the victim’s stage of decomposition, positive identification was made by comparison of dental records.

The Area I Criminal Investigation Section is continuing this investigation which is classified as a second-degree murder.

Hawai‘i Island police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a 34-year-old Puna man reported missing by his father. Andrew Cawley was last seen at a friend’s residence in Aloha Estates in Mountain View on the morning of December 23, 2020.

Cawley is described as Caucasian, 6’-2” tall, weighing 165 pounds with fair skin, brown eyes, and a shaved head. He has a scar on the left side of his head near the hairline and unknown tattoos on both feet. His last known clothing is unknown.

Police ask anyone with information on his whereabouts to please call the police department’s non-emergency line at (808) 935-3311 and ask for Officer Roger Carvalho.
