A hole, measuring about 2-feet wide, 4-feet long, by 8-feet deep, was located about 1.5 miles above Pāhala Town on the privately-owned, Old Cane Haul Road in Ka‘ū.  The integrity of an approximately 30-foot section of the road is suspected to be compromised by a deteriorating drainage culvert buried beneath the roadway.

Road closure signs have been placed on either side of the affected location.  Motorists are strongly advised against crossing this area and to use alternate routes until the landowners make repairs.
