Hilo, Hawaiʻi – The County of Hawaiʻi Department of Parks and Recreation has announced that the Gilbert Kahele Recreation Area will be closed for a half-day on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, to allow for vector control operations.
The park will be closed from 4:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. this Tuesday. During these hours, all public restrooms and park amenities will be unavailable.
Residents traveling through the area are asked to plan accordingly. The Department of Parks and Recreation thanked the community for its understanding as this important maintenance work is conducted.
