(Hand Carry) Water Shut-Off Notice (South Hilo)

AFFECTED AREA: THE FOLLOWING AREAWILL EXPERIENCE NO WATER PRESSURE DURING THE SHUT-OFF PERIOD
SERVICES IN PĀPAʻIKOU ALONG OLD MĀMALAHOA HIGHWAY FROM THE HAWAIʻI BELT ROAD (HIGHWAY 19) INTERSECTION UP TO AND INCLUDING MALUNA PLACE (MAKAI OF OLD MĀMALAHOA ONLY), ALSO INCLUDES KAʻĀPOKO HOMESTEAD ROAD AND ROAD “H” OF MOIRTON CAMP IN PĀPAʻIKOU; SOUTH HILO, HAWAIʻI

Water will be temporarily turned off in the above-mentioned area from 2:15 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, to do waterline connections for the Department of Water Supply’s Pāpaʻikou Transite & G.I. Pipeline Replacement project. The affected area may experience low to no water pressure during the shut-off period.

Upon the resumption of water service, the waterlines will be flushed and cleaned during which time you may notice turbid and/or discolored water.

You may also notice trapped air in your plumbing, which will be released as you initially use water.

Affected customers are reminded to take any and all precautions necessary to protect the customers’ property and facilities including, but not limited to, disabling electrical power to pumps and/or any other devices whose normal operation may be dependent on water pressure and/or water supply, and which might be harmed if automatically energized during the water shut-off.
