Hawaiʻi County Department of Public Works will be paving Kīlauea Avenue between Puainako Street and Lanikaula Street this weekend, October 2-3, from 7 am to 7 pm, weather permitting. As a result, the intersection of Puainako Street and Kīlauea Avenue will be closed on Saturday, October 2. Motorists are asked to use Makaʻala Street or Kahaopeʻa Street as detours when driving both mauka and makai. Kanoelehua Avenue or Kinoʻole Street should be used to detour going Hāmākua or Puna bound.

The Department of Public Works would like to remind motorists to drive safely in the area and thanks to the community for their patience and understanding.
