Ihope Road, Mountain View, HI – The three-day manhunt for 39-year-old Christopher Lucrisia of Mountain View ended in a deadly confrontation on Ihope Road this afternoon. Lucrisia was killed after allegedly invading a home, attempting to steal a vehicle, and engaging in a shootout with police officers.

The incident unfolded sometime after 3:00 p.m. when police responded to a report of a home invasion in the 18-1300 block of Ihope Road. According to the Hawaii Police Department (HPD), Lucrisia entered a residence, threatened the occupants, and stole the keys to a vehicle parked outside.

Detectives and members of the HPD’s Specialized Response Team (SRT), already in the area based on information suggesting Lucrisia might be nearby, responded immediately. Lucrisia, armed with a rifle and a pistol and hiding in a vehicle on the property, began firing at the detectives who arrived first. Seconds later, SRT personnel arrived and established a perimeter. Lucrisia continued firing at officers, and one officer returned fire.

SRT personnel swiftly maintained a perimeter and attempted to negotiate with Lucrisia. After a period of unsuccessful communication, officers deployed an unmanned drone to assess the situation. The drone revealed Lucrisia unresponsive in the back seat of the vehicle. Medics were called to the scene and determined that Lucrisia had died.

Authorities have not yet released information regarding the cause of Lucrisia’s death, nor the origin of the weapons he used. Whether they were his, stolen, or unregistered “ghost guns” remains under investigation.

The incident occurred directly across the street from the location where 23-year-old Silas Zion was arrested earlier in connection with Friday’s attempted murder of a police officer. Zion’s truck, allegedly used in the attempted murder, was also recovered at the scene.

Zion has been charged with:

  • First-degree attempted murder
  • Place to Keep Pistol, Place to Keep Ammunition
  • First-degree hindering prosecution

His bail has been set at $3,075,000.

Police remain on Ihope Road, focusing their investigation on Lucrisia’s whereabouts over the past three days and determining if anyone provided him with assistance to evade capture.

As standard practice, the HPD Office of Professional Standards has initiated a critical incident review of the shooting. The officer who fired his weapon, an 18-year veteran of the department assigned to the Specialized Response Team, has been placed on administrative leave to ensure his well-being.

We would also like to recognize Denise Laitinen, Public Relations Specialist for the Hawaii Police Department, for her tireless efforts in keeping the public informed.
