The Hawai‘i Police Activities League (HI-PAL) would like to congratulate all the winners and thank all of the participants in the Back to School Keiki Fishing Tournament, which took place Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Laupāhoehoe Point Beach Park in Laupāhoehoe.
Participants included 24 keiki aged 5 to 17 who vied to catch fish to win prizes. Each student also received a backpack filled with school supplies. It was fun for the whole family with participants and their families enjoying a lunch of hot dogs, chili, rice, and shave ice courtesy of DARE Hawai‘i. All the fish caught were weighed and then released back into the ocean.
Hawai‘i Police Department wishes to thank officers from the Departments of Land and Natural Resources, the State of Hawaii Aquatics Division, and the County of Hawai‘i Department of Parks and Recreation for their support in assisting with the tournament and providing the participants with numerous fishing and hunting educational materials and lessons. HPD also thanks Access Capabilities, Kamuela Ace Hardware, and DARE Hawaii for donating to the tournament.
